Lately we haven’t been as active as we used to be, or as active as we would like to be. We have been not posting on any of our social media accounts and we really want to start posting again because we love sharing in the book community. We are hoping that we can find time to start writing more reviews and just random updates on here. Currently we are about half way through our semester and we will be going on our winter break very soon. We have been extremely busy with school and with work, but we are planning to do a lot of things for the following year. The first major thing we want to do starts this year, during our winter break. We will definitely keep you all updated when we figure out all of the details of the things we are excited to do. Our winter break project is almost finalized so we will be posting a blog about it soon. I’m very excited for this and I hope you guys will share my the excitement with me.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
Since discovering the amazing Sarah J. Maas earlier this year, we have been wanting to read the Throne of Glass series. We absolutely loved reading A Court of Thorns and Roses and the sequel A Court of Mist and Fury, which by the way is one of our favorite and we will never get tired of saying that. We decided to enjoy our first college winter break by marathoning the Throne of Glass series. We would love it if any of you guys want to join us in marathoning the series with us. We are starting to read the series next week and we made a calendar to make sure we would be able to read the entire series during our break.
Throne of Glass: December 19 to December 22
Crown of Midnight: December 23 to December 27
The Assassin’s Blade: December 28 to January 1
Heir of Fire: January 2 to January 7
Queen of Shadows: January 8 to January 14
Empire of Storms: January 15 to January 21
And on January 22 we’ll be posting our reaction to the entire Throne of Glass series!!!
P.S. we are thinking of maybe starting a youtube channel, but we still aren’t sure, let us know what you guys think 😊
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
– Wilmarilys & Melissa
This would have made more sense to post this yesterday because yesterday was Thanksgiving but I was with my family and just a few minutes ago I decided to write this blog post. On instagram we’re doing the #gobbledupbooks challenge for November, created by @twirlingpages and @celinereads and day 24 was books you’re thankful for and I thought it would be a good idea to explain why I’m thankful for these books. The books I’ve chosen are in no particular order for how much I’ve liked them.
I am thankful for A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks because he really got me into reading. A Walk to Remember was the first movie I saw of his and it was the first book I’ve read of his. Nicholas Sparks has had a huge impact on my reading and my life because because of him I’m obsessed with North Carolina and during the summer my mom and I actually went to North Carolina and it was one of the best trips I’ve ever went on. A Walk to Remember is my favorite movie and I remember being in fifth grade and watching the movie for the first time and since then I was hooked.
I am thankful for City of Bones by Cassandra Clare because it introduced me into the whole Shadowhunter world which I am a huge fan of. I love Cassandra Clare so much and I’ve only read TMI but I plan on reading on TID soon, I hope. But anyway, I started reading TMI when I was in middle school and I read the first three books and then senior year of high school, I finished the series and I’m so happy that I did because it was incredible.
I am extremely grateful for The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. From the moment I picked up the book i just couldn’t put it down and it today remains one of my favorite, if not favorite book. I loved the story so much and I finished it in one sitting and I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much for a book. I grew so attached to Hazel and Gus and I still get emotional thinking about the book. The Fault In Our Stars also introduced me to John Green and I just love all of his books. I’m so thankful for him writing such a beautiful story that shows a different perspective about people who have cancer.
I am thankful for Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about this book but I was and still am a huge Twilight fan. I read the Twilight Saga when I was in sixth grade and I honestly owe being obsessed with books to having read Twilight. Twilight was everything to me and I remember being on the biggest book hangover after marathoning the series because I found myself thinking about all the characters from Twilight and I couldn’t find any other book that caught my interest. I will forever be thankful for Twilight really getting me into reading.
I am thankful for The Book Thief by Markus Zusak who happened to be the first book signing I ever went to. The Book Thief is honestly one of my favorite books and all I can say is that I loved the book so much. It’s one of those books that just like completely changes you and I have no words to describe what that book means to me. I loved how the narrator was death and just seeing what so many people had to go through during the Holocaust. I also loved Liesel’s love of books and it shows you how much a single book can impact you.
Lastly, I am thankful for A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas because after reading that book and A Court of Mist and Fury which completely killed me, Wilmarilys and I refer to her as the Queen because she’s just so amazing. I feel as though no one really compares to her and I’m so thankful for ACOTAR for getting me into Fantasy books. Wilmarilys and I plan on marathoning the Throne of Glass series in a few weeks, after we finish this semester. I’m so incredibly excited for A Court of Wings and Ruin and I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
***I am also thankful for Harry Potter and I didn’t include it until now because that’s just a given. I feel incredibly ashamed because I haven’t finished the Harry Potter series but Harry Potter in general has impacted my life so much.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
A while back I tried combining my TBR books with the books on my shelves and that was a complete disaster. I am not meant for organizing shelves, but the co owner, Melissa is and tomorrow she’s coming over to organize my shelves. My shelves are in serious need of organization so it’s a good thing that she’s coming over. We’re also going to talk about some other bookish related things. We have a couple of ideas but we’re still figuring out how to actually turn our ideas into something real. Hopefully we don’t get too distracted talking about books that we forget to talk about our ideas. We’re really excited about these ideas, we just haven’t had time to talk about them to properly figure out how to implement them. We’re going to try to be as productive as possible, but we’ll see how it goes since we’re going to a Teen Panel today and Melissa de la Cruz, Danielle Paige, Lauren Oliver, and Kendare Blake are all going to be there talking about there lastest book releases.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
Sometimes while I’m reading I really like listening to certain songs or cds because they help me concentrate while I’m reading and just put me in a good mood. Normally I can read through really loud noises or if people are talking if the book is really interesting but sometimes I have some trouble concentrating if I’m just really not that into a book so I’ll just listen to some music so that I can just block out everything and concentrate on what I’m reading.
I thought that it would be kind of cool to share with everyone some songs that I like listening to while I’m reading and that just help me relax a bit. Below I’ll be listing some songs that put me in a good mood and that help me concentrate while reading as well as the links if anyone is interested in checking them out which I highly encourage. By the way these aren’t all of the songs that I listen to while reading because I listen to a lot more but these are just a couple of them. (Click one them to listen)
P.S. Volume 1 & 2 of the Outlander soundtrack are fantastic and I listen to those two albums the most while I’m reading and just in general.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
We all love books, obviously because what there not to love. I mean apart from the occasional heartbreak while reading or when finished. Sometimes the heartbreak happens to our wallets and most of the time we can’t help it. When we see books that we like we just have to have them, no matter what. I myself am guilty of this, I buy books like crazy, it’s sort of a problem, a problem that I do not like to admit to people.
I do not like paying full price for books, especially if they are hardcover. I usually don’t pay full price for books, but if it’s paperback then sometimes I do, but a lot of my books I bought them from the Barnes & Noble website because I am a member so I get discounts, coupons, and free shipping. There are so many different places that I have gotten my books from, so I’m going to share a couple: Barnes & Noble, Target, Amazon, Thriftbooks.com, Book Outlet (the website, I don’t live in Canada so I’ve never been to the store, but I might be going soon), Bookdepository.com and Ebay (when I want a certain edition that I can’t find anywhere else). There is also this store in our area called Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and they have really cheap books so when I go and see some books that I would read I more than likely buy them.
I have a hard time resisting books that are cheap and in good condition. If you have the same problem as me (I wouldn’t really consider it a problem…) I would definitely recommend checking out some of these websites if you want to find some book deals.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!

Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
-Melissa & Wilmarilys
Everyone that loves books I’m sure has been through the struggle of having extremely long TBR lists and because of this, often there are books that we really want to read but for some reason we just don’t get around to reading. I know this is true for me, because although I don’t physically own a lot of the books on my TBR list, my list has over 400 books on it that I want to buy and read. Because I have such a long TBR list, there are some books/series that I’m ashamed that I haven’t read. Below I have compiled a list of series’ that I’m ashamed that I haven’t read and I’ll be explaining a little bit about why I haven’t read that particular series. This list is in no particular order other than the first book which is the series that I’m most ashamed and embarrassed about not having read.
- The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
I feel as though everyone has read The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare. I haven’t read this series because I haven’t wanted to or because I don’t like Cassandra Clare, it’s just that I don’t have the books. I really want to read these books because I’ve read The Mortal Instruments books and I loved them and they’re one of my favorite series of all time and after having read TMI, I want to read TID even more but for some reason I just haven’t boughten them. I plan on getting the new cover ones because I think the spines are absolutely gorgeous and this series is definitely on the top of my list of series’ that I want to read.
- The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
The Raven Cycle is a series that I have been wanting to read for a while because I’ve heard such great things about it and because I’ve previously read other books by Maggie Stiefvater. I read her Wolves of Mercy Falls series and I really enjoyed it and I hear that The Raven Cycle is even better than the Wolves of Mercy Falls series so I’m really excited to eventually read it.
- Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi
I actually have absolutely no reason for why I haven’t read this series other than the fact that I don’t own that books and that I have such a huge TBR pile that I keep pushing back buying and reading these books for no apparent reason. Everyone raves about this series and I’m desperate to read but just haven’t had the chance to do it yet.
- The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
This is definitely a series that I want to read so badly because I’m very interested in reading some retellings because I think that I’ve only ever read like one and I would really like to read some more. These books sound fantastic and the covers are so beautiful and for some reason yet again, I just haven’t bought the books so that I can see why everyone else thinks that they are so wonderful.
- The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
For a while I’ve been meaning to get these books and I actually had planned to buy and then marathon the books before The Crown came out in May but I just never ended buying the books. I’ve heard that these books are great and super easy and fast reads. A while ago I was at Target and they were selling the box set for the first three books and I was going to get them but decided not to because I wanted the hardcover versions and they only sold them in paperback but The Selection Series is definitely at the top of my list for books that I plan to get and read.
- Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas
The Throne of Glass series is definitely a series that I’m ashamed that I haven’t read. I had planned on buying and reading the first 4 books and companion book before Empire of Storms came out because I wanted to go to a book signing of hers that is being hosted nearby where I live but I haven’t gotten the books yet and I probably won’t have enough time to read them but one of the next books I plan on buying is Throne of Glass because I have heard such amazing things about that series and I’ve actually read both A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury and they were so fantastic. A Court of Mist and Fury is actually now one of my all time favorite books ever and I was actually able to meet Sarah J. Maas and get ACOTAR and ACOMAF.
- Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
All I can say for this series is that I feel absolute shame for not having read this series. I love Harry Potter so much and have seen the movies like a million times but I feel like such a fake fan because I have not read the books. In my defense I have read the first book twice, once in fifth grade and another in the seventh grade and I’ve read the second book but I haven’t read books 3-7 and now 8 with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child just being released. I only own a copy of book one and three and I just don’t why I haven’t read the books. I’ve been meaning to buy them lately but I want the paperback UK editions, that are available on Amazon UK and I just haven’t gotten them yet but I plan on buying them very soon because I just need to read this series. It’s not the same thing to watch the movies than to read the actual book.
This year a lot of books that I have read or plan on reading have been made into movies. I wrote down a couple of the movies that I am excited to go see even though I haven’t read the book version of all the movies I would like to go see. I hope to read the books to the movies before going to see the movie, but I’ll be starting college soon and I don’t know how much time I will have to read.
- The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins comes out October 7
I haven’t read this book, nor do I own a copy so if I do go watch it I might not have read the book before hand.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling comes out November 18
The same thing for this one, but I will definitely be reading it before I go and watch this one.
- Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs comes out December 25
I have read and do own this book, so I will definitely be going to go watch this movie, although I am a bit upset that the movie isn’t going to be like the book.
- The November Criminals by Sam Munson, the release date is TBD
I have not read this book yet and I do not have a copy of it, but on my defense when I was going to read it, it was sold out liker everywhere, I literally could not find a place to buy this book, but I will be purchasing soon. Hopefully before the movie, but who knows when it’ll come out.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
A few days ago, my love for books and my love for Nicholas Sparks in particular led me to taking a trip to Edenton, North Carolina. Ever since I was in fifth grade, I’ve wanted to go to North Carolina and the reason for this all started when I was doing my homework and the movie A Walk to Remember came on. I had never seen the movie before and had never read a book or watched a movie by Nicholas Sparks. Ever since seeing A Walk to Remember for the first time, I became obsessed with Nicholas Sparks and so far I’ve read 15 out of his 19, soon to be 20 published works. Practically all of Nicholas Sparks’ books take place in North Carolina and in his books he makes North Carolina seem like such a wonderful place that it made me want to go and visit North Carolina. My mother knowing how much I adore Nicholas Sparks, planned a trip as my high school graduation present to go to North Carolina. When I found out that we were going I was overcome with so much happiness. I know most people don’t dream of going to North Carolina but I just had to see for myself if what everything Nicholas Sparks said in his books were true.
The reason that my mother chose Edenton, North Carolina was because that’s where he got his inspiration for writing Safe Haven even though the book doesn’t take place in Edenton. In Safe Haven, Katie escapes her abusive husband and ends up finding safety in a small fishing town. There she ends up falling in love with a man named Alex and she finds peace for a while until her husband ends up finding her. When I arrived to Edenton I was shocked to find out that the town only had a population of 5,000 and this was shocking to me because in the town I live in their is a population of about 85,000. My first day of being in Edenton, I instantly knew why Nicholas Sparks had been inspired to write Safe Haven because there, there is this long pier surrounded by water that has boats and lighthouse as well as a historic home on the water. Edenton was so beautiful and I fell in love, the people their were so kind which I’m not use to at all and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous.
During my trip in North Carolina, we also visited Creswell and Elizabeth City. I was able to take a tour of Penelope Barker’s house, take a trolley tour, go to a plantation, and visit a museum. I had such a wonderful experience and the houses and land are so beautiful over there. If I ever go to North Carolina again I would definitely like to visit Wilmington and New Bern. While I was there I also did a bit of book buying and I ended up getting 6 books and 4 oriental rug bookmarks that I adore so much. My trip was so incredible and I’m so thankful for Nicholas Sparks for having led to my love for North Carolina.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
