February Wrap Up/ Haul/ March TBR

I’m so incredibly disappointed that I did such little reading in February. I’m not able to get much reading done because I have so much schoolwork and readings to do that the only time I have to read is for stuff for my classes. Also when I had time to read, I just really had no desire to pick up book so I guess that means I’m in a bit of a reading slump. I really hope that next month I’ll be able to read more. In February I ended up reading…

  • A Walk to Remember by: Nicholas Sparks

This year so far I’m also doing pretty well with controlling myself when it comes to buying books. I really want to shrink down my TBR pile and that isn’t really possible if I’m buying a ton of books especially since I’m not reading much. In February I ended up buying…

  • Crooked Kingdom by: Leigh Bardugo
  • Illuminae by: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  • Gemina by: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  • Caraval by: Stephanie Garber
  • Another Day by: David Levithan

In March I’m really hoping to read more but I don’t know if that will be possible because I’ll be dealing with midterms but I’ll also be on Spring Break so I’m really hoping that I don’t have work to do during that time so that I can focus on reading. In March I plan on reading…

  • Illuminae by: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  • Gemina by: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  • Six of Crows by: Leigh Bardugo

Throne of Glass Series Thoughts!

I don’t even know how to accurately express how much I loved the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas because I loved it so much. As I kept reading the books, I just kept getting even more amazed but how wonderful each book was. Before reading the ToG books, I had already read A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury and those books completely changed my reading style and got me into reading fantasy books. After reading ACOTAR and ACOMAF, I knew I had to read the ToG books and i’m so glad that I did.

I still can’t decide which series I like more because I love both of them so much. I just adored the characters and the constant plot twists in the ToG series. I constantly felt as though I would know something and then all of a sudden something would happen in the books that completely changed what I thought was going on and how I felt about the characters. For example, from the beginning of starting Throne of Glass, I shipped Chaol and Celaena so much and then that quickly changed. I also did not like the character Manon at all and then I ended up loving her and now ship her with a certain character. The ToG books kept me constantly on my toes wondering what was going to happen next because nothing is guaranteed. I feel as though each book just kept getting better and better and after having completed Empire of Storms, it just left me completely destroyed and distraught.

I can’t believe that I have to wait until September to read the final book even though in the meantime I’ll be able to read A Court of Wings and Ruin which I’m extremely beyond excited for and the Chaol novela. I just never want the ACOTAR and ToG series to end because I just don’t know what I’ll ending up doing because nothing will compare.

Empire of Storms Review!

Goodreads Synopsis:

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those don’t.

Aelin’s journey from assassin to queen has entranced millions across the globe, and this fifth installment will leave fans breathless. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?

My Opinion:

It’s been awhile since I finished reading Empire of Storms,  but I have to say that I am not over the story and I won’t be for a long time. I recently read that due to Sarah J. Maas’s health the sixth book in the Throne of Glass series will not be released this September like it originally was going to be, but now it will be published next May. I’m a little upset because I really want to read the next book in the series and the anticipation of its release is going to drive me insane. At least Sarah is still releasing a book in September and we have ACOWAR to look forward to in May this year.

Going into this book I really didn’t know what to expect since almost everyone else in the book community read it as soon as it came out and were saying that this book broke them. This book was so intense and I love how all of the small details that Sarah includes in the previous stories all start to come together in the fifth book. Some scenes in the ToG series are very predictable, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t love reading them. The last scene in EoS was something I did not see coming, a lot of the other stuff that happened, yes I saw that coming, but the ending to the book was insane. It leaves me wondering what is going to happen in the sixth book. I also am wondering if we are going to be meeting any new characters in this world. (I have my suspicions about a ToG/ACOTAR crossover.)

I felt that we got to learn more about each of the characters in this book and that Sarah wonderfully developed her characters personalities and histories. I truly believe that there is still a lot more that Sarah hasn’t told us about our beloved ToG family. With the ending of this book, it is very easy to see the love that the characters have for each other and to see the lengths that each and everyone of them is willing to go to protect what they love. This story was definitely full of surprises and many of them were good, but a few were not.

Many of the characters, like Manon and Lorcan acted in ways that would normally go against their nature, but strange things do happen and they often can cause a person to act like a different person for moments at a time. I also feel like I should mention how adorable Abraxos is, I am really looking forward to reading about him again… he’s just so cute.

I’m not prepared for the next book even with the publishing date being pushed to next year, but at the same time I wanted to read it as soon as I finished this one. But I’ll try my hardest to be patient and hope that Sarah starts to feel better soon because she is so amazing and she deserves to feel that way. Hopefully we all will be able to handle the long wait, but if we can’t we can always reread her books. I plan on doing that, I don’t know when but I do want to reread them because why not.
