January Wrap Up/ Haul/ February TBR

I’m kind of sad and happy at the same time because I ended up finished the Throne of Glass series this month. I’m sad because I have to wait until September to read the final book because I just don’t want it to end but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen next. In January I ended up reading…

  • Queen of Shadows by: Sarah J. Maas
  • Empire of Storms by: Sarah J. Maas
  • Between Shades of Gray by: Ruta Sepetys
  • Milk and Honey by: Rupi Kaur

In January I really tried controlling myself and I didn’t buy that many books. I’m proud of myself because I only got three books which is strange for me because on average I get about ten books or more a month. I ended up getting…

  • The Diabolic by: S.J. Kincaid
  • Two by Two by: Nicholas Sparks
  • Milk and Honey by: Rupi Kaur

In February I don’t know how much I’ll be able to read because I just started school again and I’ll be having work and assignments to do for my classes but I hope to end up reading…

  • A Walk to Remember by: Nicholas Sparks (re-read)
  • Something In Between by: Melissa De La Cruz
  • Heartless by: Marissa Meyer
  • Out of the Easy by: Ruta Sepetys

Queen of Shadows Review!

Goodreads Synopsis:

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

My Opinion:

Contains some Spoilers

I know that I keep talking about how amazing Sarah J. Maas and how she is the literal Queen but I honestly can say nothing but good things about her and her books. Queen of Shadows absolutely exceeded my expectations and completely had me torn. In my Throne of Glass review I wrote about how hard I ship Celaena and Chaol but that has completely changed because now I am wholeheartedly devoted to Rowan. Rowan is just so perfect and I can’t get enough of him. In Heir of Fire I really liked him but I was torn because I had loved Chaol so much but now I realize that they were just not right for each other.

Queen of Shadows was great and so action packed that at some points I had trouble following along. I loved being able to look more into Manon’s life and learn about Elide because from the moment she was mentioned I just knew that she would end up being important. In Heir of Fire I wasn’t a fan of Manon’s but now I really like her and I want her to end up with Dorian.

What I also liked about Queen of Shadows was seeing how Aelin was able to pull herself after having met Rowan in Heir of Fire. I also enjoyed seeing Lysandra take control of her life and see a different side to her that I hadn’t seen in The Assassin’s Blade and how much she cares about Evangeline. We also got to learn about some important aspects of her life and how she ended up in the hands of Arobynn and Clarisse.

It was also amazing seeing Dorian be set free from his father and having Aelin restore magic back in the world. There honestly isn’t anything I could say negatively about this book because I loved it so much but then again I am a bit biased when it comes to Sarah J. Maas. I’m so excited for Empire of Storms to see what happens next and I know I’ll be heartbroken when I finish the book because I’ll have to wait until September 5th for the last book and I’m also looking forward to the novella in May.
