The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag!

Recently I was on BookTube watching videos and I found myself watching multiple videos of The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag. For those of you that don’t know, The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag is a tag where you answer nine book related questions sharing your opinion where a lot of people might not necessarily agree with. This tag is normally done as a video but I thought that it would be a good idea to just write a blog about sharing my opinion. The tag was created originally created by TheBookArcher so you should definitely go check out her video and all of the questions that I’ll be answering were created by her. I’ll be listing the question and then answering them.

  • A popular book or series that you didn’t like.

      1. This series isn’t extremely popular but I’m not a huge fan of the Matched series by Ally Condie. I’ve only read the first two books in the series and I originally read the first two books like 5 years and I remember liking it but I hadn’t finished the series because I didn’t have the last book and then a few years I bought it and just never got around to reading. This year I decided that I wanted to finish the series so I re read the first and second book and yet again I’ve pushed this series aside because I didn’t really like the series and I have no desire to know what happens next.
  • A popular book or series that everyone seems to hate but that you love.

      1. The book that I loved that a lot of people don’t seem to like is Allegiant from the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. I’ve heard that a lot of people didn’t like this book but I remember really liking it. Other than the death of a certain character, I don’t know why a lot of people don’t like this book.
  • A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you did NOT want them to end up with OR an OTP that you don’t like.

      1. Spoiler Alert!!! A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person that I didn’t want them to end up with is the love triangle in the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver between Lena, Alex, and Julian. In the first book Lena falls in love with Alex but then she thinks that he’s dead and she later falls in love with Julian and then finds out that Alex never died. Although I did like Lena and Alex in the first book I liked her way more with Julian and was upset when in the last book she ends up with Alex.
  • A popular book genre that you hardly reach for.

      1. A popular book genre that are hardly reach for would definitely have to be historical fiction. I never usually read historical fiction unless it’s for a school assignment but even though it’s a genre that I usually never reach for, it’s a genre that I definitely want to get into. I have two books by Ruta Septys that I want to read because I heard that she is an amazing historical fiction author and I really want to get her book Salt by the Sea. Hopefully soon I’ll get into reading historical fiction.
  • A popular or beloved character that you do not like.

      1. A popular character that I don’t like would have to be Tamlin from the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas. When I first read ACOTAR I liked Tamlin but after Feyre goes to go rescue Tamlin and he does absolutely nothing to help her I started to not like him and then when I started reading ACOMAF, I really stopped liking him. Now I love Feyre and Rhysand and they’re one of my favorite book couples.
  • A popular author that you can’t seem to get into.

      1. A popular author or in my case authors that I can’t seem to get into is Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. I know that they’re written multiple books together and I’ve only ever read Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List by them but I didn’t really enjoy it that much. I might try to read other books that they’ve co authored together and books that they’ve individually written but at the moment I’m not really impressed by their writing.
  • A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing.

      1. A book trope that I’m kind of tired of seeing is where the main character and their love interest are the most beautiful people ever. I often feel like when authors write books they try to create this perfect character that is so unrealistic. The guy and the girl are usually extremely beautiful and have virtually no flaws and I kind of wish that authors would try to make characters more realistic and believable.
  • A popular series that you have no interest in reading.

      1. A popular series that I don’t really have any interest in reading is The Lord of the Ring series by J.R.R. Tolkein. I’m not going to say that I have absolutely no interest in reading this series or that I’m never going to read this series because I kind of want to read this series because it is very popular and I know a lot of people love it but it really doesn’t interest me. I don’t really see any appeal to it and I’ve never even been interested in watching the movies because this series doesn’t really grab my attention but maybe later on in the future I’ll decide to pick the series up and read it but for now I’m not interested in it.
  • The saying goes “The book is always better than the movie,” but what movie or TV show adaption do you prefer more than the book?

    1. A lot of people may not agree with me about this but a movie that I liked more than the book was Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I read this book before seeing the movie and I loved it so much that  I gave the book 5 stars. Even though I really loved the book, I thought the movie was slightly better. I feel like the director was really good at staying true to the book and I really loved the film adaption of the relationship between Louisa and Will and I’ll definitely be buying the movie when it goes on sale. P.S. We wrote a blog on the book and the film adaption of the book that you should definitely check out.
