We recently finished reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and we’re currently reading A Court of Mist and Fury, which is also by Sarah J. Maas and I have to say that so far this series is amazing. We have been wanting to read Sarah’s books for a while and we decided to start reading now, since we were starting to fall into a reading slump and thought that a genre change would help us get out of that reading slump. A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first out of three books in this series. ACOTAR is a very loose retelling of beauty and the beast.
Feyre lives in the human realm in Prythian close to the faerie wall, which divides the immortal faeries from the humans. Feyre is only 19, but she has had to take on the role of sole provider for her family. She had to sacrifice her “childhood” in order to fulfill the promise she made to her mother on her deathbed, when she was young. She lives in a small, old cottage with her two sisters and her father. Her family depends on them for everything, after they lost their good name and fortune. Feyre went hunting in the forest and did something that got her taken from her family to live in the faerie realm.
In the faerie realm she was treated like royalty, despite her hatred towards faeries. She protested staying in the faerie realm, but eventually her opinions changed and she fell in love with the faerie realm and when she had to go back to the human realm she could not find a way to be happy. She returned to the faerie realm, but when she returned it was not the same as when she left. When Ferye returns she has to earn her freedom and she fights for something bigger than her will to stay alive. She fights for love. She has to fight for freedom. She has to risk everything to save everyone.
I loved this book so much I wish I didn’t read it so quickly. I’m trying not to rush through A Court of Mist and Fury because so far it is simply amazing and I expect for it to get better and I don’t want it to end. The next installment in this series will not be released until next year and that’s a really long time to wait for the next book. This series is amazing I highly recommend reading it. You may not usually read fantasy, but I urge you to give it a try, you might just fall in love with it.
Have an ALMIGHTY Day!
